Escape to a luxury hideaway waiting for you in the heart of 20 acres of tranquil forest. Whether you are going for a short break or a longer retreat, The Panari Resort Nyahururu has all you need for a perfect stay.
You can simply unwind in the comfort of the resort or use it as your base as you head out on safari to explore Lake Nakuru, Lake Baringo and/or Lake Bogaria. The Resort is a short 2 ½ hour drive from Nairobi and an hour’s drive from Mount Kenya, off the popular Mount Kenya-Samburu safari circuit on the Nyeri-Nyahururu road.
In the annals of history, October 1883 marks an important entry in Nyahururu, the place of waterfalls. It is derived from the word naiurru-ur in Maa, the language of the Maasai. Joseph Thomson an intrepid explorer and brilliant scholar took a path less travelled to avoid trade caravans, slave traders and other European explorers to trek through Maasai land, something that no European explorer had dared – fearing the Maasai warriors.
Commissioned by the Royal Geographical Society to explore a route from Mombasa on the Indian Ocean to Lake Victoria, Thomson was mesmerized by the waterfall thundering several hundred feet down below and cutting through a narrow gorge. It was the first time that the outside world came to know of Thomson’s Falls – a name the explorer bestowed on it.
The Panari Resort Nyahururu is somewhere Thomson would have camped, explored the thundering waterfall and the forest. We take pride in being part of the legend. Set on 20 acres of lavish gardens, the collection of exquisite interior and outdoor venues are ideal for safari stopovers, conferences, family holidays, weddings and other memorable stays.
